about me
Tawanna Wilson, LMHC
Founder/Therapist/ Advocate for Healing & Change
I started Black Butterfly Counseling because I saw a deep need in the community, especially among BIPOC youth and families for culturally competent, accessible, and affirming mental health support. Historically, people of color have been underrepresented in therapy spaces, as clients, clinicians, and in the narratives of healing. I wanted to change that. I bring not only clinical training and therapeutic expertise but also lived experience, empathy, and a passion for helping others heal and rise. My superpower as a therapist is the ability to truly connect with clients, meeting them where they are and helping them identify, embrace, and strengthen their own superpowers. My approach is compassionate, culturally responsive, and rooted in mindfulness and trauma-informed care. I specialize in working with young people and women of color navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and grief. I know how important it is to feel seen and safe and to work with someone who truly understands the complexity of your experience. Therapy with me is about transformation, not perfection. It’s about reclaiming your voice, your peace, and your power.
